Slow roast minted lamb and toffee sponge pudding are two of the house specialities. Windermere is a central location for touring the Lake District. There are lots of good walks right on the doorstep without the need to venture out in the car and stunning countryside just a short drive away. Over the Wrynose and Hardknott Pass a Roman fort awaits and the historic market towns of Kendal and Keswick are within easy reach, as is Ambleside, with its fine array of outdoor clothing shops.
